Erich Roepke and I went to work telling stories for SeaLegacy and National Geographic.

Erich and I became social media and expedition producers for SeaLegacy, the ocean-conservation collective.

We were two friends with cameras, beside the best conservation photographers in the world.

A polar bear resting on a snow bank above the fjord
Jagged snow peaks mirrored in a glassy Svalbard fjord
Svalbard from the air, snowfields broken by a dark fjord
Photographers with long lenses kneeling on the sea ice

It put me on SeaLegacy's voyages, and into media strategy for SeaLegacy and other ocean-conservation non-profits.

Its two founders, both National Geographic photographers.

A ship's wake cutting through thin ice toward a low Arctic sun
Glaciers spilling between dark rock peaks above the water
The edge of the sea ice against black open water
Turquoise meltwater pooled among broken sea ice

They showed me what visual conservation looks like at the highest level.
