In 2019, Stein Retzlaff served as Expedition Leader and Camera Support for Ice On Fire, a powerful documentary distributed by HBO that examines the urgent environmental issues surrounding climate change and its impact on the Arctic. Filmed in Svalbard, Norway, the project captured stunning visuals of melting glaciers and the critical role the region plays in global climate dynamics.

Teaming up with Harun M, Steve Gute, and Eddie M, Stein supported the production by helping navigate and film in the challenging Arctic conditions, bringing attention to the escalating climate crisis in one of the world’s most vulnerable ecosystems. Ice On Fire delivers an eye-opening narrative on the planet’s future and the potential solutions that could help reverse environmental damage, all while emphasizing the importance of exploration, conservation, and the global fight against climate change.
