The project
In 2024, Stein Retzlaff directed, produced, and filmed a 4-week project with Ice Axe Expeditions, capturing the epic adventure of the Greenland Ski & Sail expedition. The film follows adventurers on a 9-day journey aboard the SkyDancer sailboat, exploring the rugged, remote beauty of Greenland’s fjords, where the team skis couloirs, ascends 1,500-meter peaks, and explores glacial bowls.
The project showcases the unique combination of skiing and sailing in one of the world’s most stunning and untouched environments. The film highlights the excitement of shore landings, Zodiac excursions, and the comfort of the SkyDancer, with its gourmet meals and amenities. Capturing this extraordinary adventure under the 24-hour daylight of the Arctic spring, the project emphasizes both the physical challenge of skiing and the serenity of experiencing Greenland’s pristine beauty.
