description
In 2019, Stein and his brother, Thor, led an expedition to ski and survive at one of the northernmost mountain ranges of the World. This is truly one of the most magnificent and little-known mountain ranges in the world, just a couple hundred miles from the North Pole. Stein lead the expedition with Thor and professional photographer, Erin Hogue. This story was inspired by their mentor, Douglas Stoup, where the team skied several first ski descents and put years of expedition leadership and management training to the ultimate test in the harshest of conditions.
Filmed in partnership with Intrepid Productions and Outside TV, Area 11 not only captured stunning visuals of icebergs, glaciers, and polar wildlife but also conveyed the immense personal and environmental challenges of Arctic exploration. The entire expedition was carbon-neutral, thanks to a partnership with the World Tree Eco-Tree Program. Launched on OutsideTV, the project resonated with the adventure and outdoor communities, showcasing the raw beauty of one of the world’s most remote and pristine environments.
